From Service to Sold: How I Found My Calling in Real Estate

Growing up in St. Louis, I learned early that home isn’t just a place — it’s a feeling. Our house wasn’t fancy, but it was filled with love, laughter, and lessons. That sense of belonging shaped who I became and how I see the world today.

Years later, when I was working at JBSA-Randolph as a Civilian Manpower Analyst for the 1st Manpower Requirements Squadron, I started to realize how deeply I cared about helping others find that same sense of home. Whenever new military or civilian members arrived, one of the first things I’d ask was, “Did you find somewhere to live yet?”

If they said yes, I’d wish them well. But if they hadn’t, I’d light up. I’d give them a rundown of the best neighborhoods around JBSA-Randolph, where to eat, where to shop, and where their kids could go to school. Sometimes, I’d even load them into my Honda Odyssey — affectionately nicknamed the Vanborgini — and drive them through Schertz, Cibolo, and Converse to show them new home communities.

One afternoon, I brought a couple — the Lowerys — to see a Ryland Home in Quiet Creek. They loved it. After they left, the Realtor on duty, a guy named Rockie, asked what brokerage I was with. When I told him I wasn’t a Realtor, just a Manpower Analyst for the Air Force, he laughed and said, “You fool! You need to get your real estate license!”

That moment changed my life.

A few days later, I saw Rockie again at another open house, and he handed me the website for Champion School of Real Estate. I signed up, took three in-person and three online classes, and on Veterans Day 2013, I passed my licensing exam.

At first, I wasn’t sure who would take a chance on a brand-new agent. Then a good friend named Ruben from Detroit (rest in peace) called a broker he knew — Donnovan Jackson, owner of Noble Group Realty. I met Donnovan that same day, joined his firm, and walked into their Christmas luncheon a week later. To my surprise, Rockie was there too. He stood up and told everyone, “Man, this dude was out there helping people and didn’t even know he could get paid for it!”

That was my introduction to the world of real estate. What started as helping families relocate around Randolph Air Force Base turned into a lifelong calling.

Today, I’m proud to serve as a Realtor with LPT Realty, helping buyers and sellers throughout Schertz, Cibolo, Converse, Live Oak, New Braunfels, and the Greater San Antonio area. As a U.S. Air Force veteran, a Military Relocation Professional, and a long-time Randolph Field ISD community member, I specialize in guiding active-duty military, veterans, and families through smooth, stress-free PCS moves and home transitions.

I’ve been married to my amazing wife, Kelly, since 1994, and together we’ve raised five incredible children and eight grandchildren. After more than 20 years of military service and over a decade in real estate, I still wake up each day grateful for the opportunity to serve — just in a different uniform now.

Whether it’s helping a first-time buyer find their dream home or guiding a family through relocation to JBSA, my mission is the same: to help people find a place where they belong, build legacy, and create peace of mind.

Because for me, it all started with a simple question —
“Did you find somewhere to live yet?”
